good food

we went to "el gaucho" for cocktails for big daddy's work tonight. first of all, we thought we were going for dinner for free (at normally sixty quid a plate) but it turns out we were mistaken - it was only appetizers. so we filled up on hors d'oeuvres and dessert and sparkling water. cocktail parties aren't loads of fun when you don't drink but it was actually kind of nice. i've been to enough of ace's work events to chat with people a bit and we're usually stuck chatting with the same people for a couple of hours while we're sitting and eating. this time the circle of conversers rotated often enough so i didn't run out of things to say. everyone asks about the kids so we talk about that for a few minutes and then work for a few minutes and then you talk to someone else. i met a couple with something like eleven cats, four dogs, and two (i don't remember) birds i think- in their house or apartment but not a farm. maybe they should move to a farm. i loved it. the food was awesome and i love to chill with hubby kid-free once in a while. i wore my little black dress and looked smokin'.
